My career to date has enabled me to gain extensive experience of editing and proofreading a wide range of scientific documents. I can offer hard-copy or on-screen proofreading, using standard proofreading symbols (2005 BSI), Microsoft Word Track changes or plain English, applicable to a wide range of written material (eg. books, journals, magazines, academic course material, promotional literature, online materials, research reports and theses/
dissertations and annual reports).
The amount of time taken to proofread a document will depend upon the complexity of the text and amendments required. As no two projects are the same the fee and timeline will be
tailored to your project and agreed in advance. However, to give a guide to likely costs, the minimum hourly rate suggested by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) is £19.25
www.sfep.org.uk. Alternatively, we can agree a fixed or 'per page' price - whichever seems most suitable for your project.
Depending on where you are based and the level of contact required, the work can be carried out entirely by email and phone or with face-to-face meetings.
